On the hoop

What the first picture is measuring

Rose Crest Patch opens before you click. It is 88.0 mm wide and 84.0 mm tall, with 6,420 stitches in five stops of 2,100, 1,600, 1,200, 900, and 620. A Brother 4×4 sewing field is 100 by 100 mm, so the clearance is 6.0 mm across and 8.0 mm down.

Nordic Snowflake is the opposite case. It is 148.0 by 148.0 mm and holds 7,640 stitches. On a 100 by 100 mm field it exceeds the hoop by 48.0 mm. At 95 by 95 mm with density on, the count becomes 3,148 and the same field reports a fit.

Varsity Monogram A is 96.0 by 96.0 mm and 4,810 stitches. Cafe Espresso Crest is 72.0 by 68.0 mm and 3,890 stitches. Botanical Wreath is 124.0 by 122.0 mm and 9,150 stitches, which is already larger than a 4×4 field before you scale it.

Use this page as an embroidery stitch viewer online when you want the needle order, not a flat thumbnail. Drag the sew-out slider. Rose Crest at the halfway mark reads Stitch 3,210 of 6,420. The path on the hoop stops at that stitch.

Formats

Eight machine files, one path

PES and PEC are Brother and Baby Lock. DST is Tajima. JEF is Janome and Elna. EXP is Melco and Bernina. VP3 here is a Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff stitch container. XXX is Singer. U01 is Barudan. The free ZIP writes all eight at the size on screen.

An exp to dst converter on this bench keeps the color-stop order on screen, because neither EXP nor DST stores RGB. A vp3 to pes converter writes the same centered path into PES. The free PES color byte is a Brother 64 index, not a Madeira spool.

DST and EXP store color stops only, not RGB. If the source never saved a color, matching cannot invent one. The free DST-to-PES path uses Brother 64 placeholders in the order 29, 2, 5, 14, 20, 25. Those numbers were not hiding inside the DST.

Rose Crest stop 1 is RGB 180, 34, 50. On Madeira Polyneon 40 that is #1838 at ΔE 0.0. Isacord 40 is #1904 at ΔE 2.1. Sulky Rayon 40 is #1034 at ΔE 4.9. The list is a reading aid. It is not written into the free file.

Seller math

Same crest, three hoop fields

A geometric scale from 80% to 120% keeps the stitch count. Rose Crest at 80% is still 6,420 stitches, just closer together. Outside that band, or with density on, the machine download hides. The preview still shows the new count.

The seller preview fits the original design into 100×100, 130×180, and 160×260 mm. Rose Crest becomes 100.0 × 95.5 mm and 8,290 stitches, then 130.0 × 124.1 mm and 14,011, then 160.0 × 152.7 mm and 21,223. That is 8 formats times 3 hoops, 24 files.

Sew time uses the stitch count on screen. Rose Crest at 6,420 stitches is 10.7 minutes at 600 stitches per minute and 8.0 minutes at 800. The 8.0 figure is 8.025 rounded half away from zero, not a banker’s round.

Median spacing on these samples is 0.45 mm before you scale. Density changes the count by area: stitches times new width over old width times new height over old height. The spacing label stays on the original median so you can see what the file was built at.

Limits

What a free file will not do

One stitch file can be 10 MB and 250,000 stitches. A batch can be 50 files and 25 MB combined, and that batch is a paid cleanup. A project file can be 5 MB. An empty file, a renamed text file, and a file over the cap each get their own error. They do not look like a success.

Jumps longer than 6.0 mm are flagged when the next command is not a trim. Stitches longer than 0 and shorter than 0.4 mm are flagged. Paid cleanup removes stitches under 0.45 mm and turns jumps over 6.0 mm into trims, then centers the path.

The bench sample is 110.0 by 70.0 mm and 37 stitches. It exceeds a 4×4 field by 10.0 mm, fits a 5×7 field with 10.0 by 55.0 mm of clearance, and has one short stitch and one long jump. At 80% it writes 88.0 by 56.0 mm and still 37 stitches.

Checkout saves the sample name and the controls in this browser only. It does not save an uploaded file. After you return, the built-in design reloads and the download buttons are marked. Uploaded bytes never go into local storage on this site.

Sequence

Use it in four moves

  1. 01

    Start from a real file

Click Rose Crest or drop one PES, DST, JEF, EXP, VP3, XXX, PEC, or U01. The hoop draws it immediately.

  2. 02

    Set format and hoop

Choose the machine format and a sewing field. The status says Fits or Exceeds hoop by a millimetre amount.

  3. 03

    Walk the stitches

Move the sew-out slider. Jump count, trim count, and color stops stay in the same strip as the size.

  4. 04

    Download and read it back

Save one format or the eight-format ZIP. The read-back size should match the hoop within 0.5 mm.

Where it fits

Jobs this page is for

A club crest in three sizes

Rose Crest in a 4×4, a 5×7, and a 6×10 is the 24-file seller bundle, not three manual scales. Open the resize tool.

A Janome that will not read PES

Brother PES has to become JEF before a Janome or Elna will sew it. The color index changes with the format. Open PES to JEF.

A commercial DST with no thread table

Tajima DST can travel to a Brother only if you accept placeholder colors. The original spool was never in the file. Open DST to PES.

The embroidery hoop size checker lists all 30 sewing fields in millimetres and inches. The DST thread color sheet shows why a Tajima stop has no RGB to recover.

Questions

Before you sew it

Which embroidery formats can I convert?

PES and PEC for Brother and Baby Lock, DST for Tajima, JEF for Janome and Elna, EXP for Melco and Bernina, VP3 for Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff, XXX for Singer, and U01 for Barudan. One file converts to any of these eight.

Do I need an account to download a stitch file?

No. A single file converts, previews, and downloads with no account and no daily cap. The three seller packs are the only paid downloads.

Will a smaller hoop make the stitches pile up?

A geometric scale from 80% to 120% keeps the same stitch count, so the spacing changes with the size. The on-screen density preview resamples toward 0.40 mm. The 24 resized machine files are in the seller bundle.

Are my embroidery files saved on a server?

No. The browser reads the file and forgets it when you leave. A project file downloads only when you click save. Paid packs are built in memory and are not stored.
